The Trails Behind The Farm
There is a beautiful little trail system behind the farm that parallels a picturesque tributary to Abbey Brook. The trails were created by our neighbors long before we moved in and has been enjoyed for generations. This community-created trail system extends across Conservation Commission land and Nordica Street Community Farm property.

The main trailhead is at the end of Doyle Ave. (around the corner from the farm, off of Newbury St.). A spur of the trail system starts behind the barn and connects with the main trail. Please use the Doyle Ave entrance to access the trail when the farm is not open.

We encourage guests to enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest and brook. The trail is unmarked but can be followed fairly easily. We ask all visitors to be respectful of the land and the creatures living there.

During 2025 construction will be happening on our barn, which may change access to the trail. Check in with Anne or Todd for details.

The trail is about one mile long. You walk along a narrow path through the woods and alongside and over a lovely stream that empties into Abbey Brook. There are some ups and downs and walkers will cross several very narrow bridges. It can get muddy!
Near Abbey Brook, the trail has two spurs. One is a loop trail to an open flood plain and the other to a vista overlooking Abbey Brook, near the northern border with Chicopee. The trail also connects to trails that are part of the Abbey Brook Conservation area which is managed by Springfield's Conservation Commission.
Our desire is to share these beautiful woodlands with the community.
Give yourself a little extra time when you come for your veggies to take a meditative walk in the woods. It's wonderful to feel like you are in a different world so close to the busy streets of Springfield!
