Community Herb Garden

In 2021, just after we had purchased the farm, we got a request from a community member for an herb garden. She wanted a place where she could easily access the traditional herbs that she used for cooking and for medicine back in her home in Puerto Rico. We began talking with others who also wanted to create a place to learn about the medicinal properties of herbs and to grow herbs for cooking and making medicine. The community herb garden was born!

The is an ongoing project, tended with care by a group of women from the Springfield community. It lies at the southern end of our property, close to the road. Someday soon we hope to have a proper entrance.

We hope you will walk over and explore this special space when you come to the farm.

Near the herb garden, you will find a table and chairs for sitting and listening to the birds and watching the pollinators (bees and butterflies) in their glory. It is a good place to de-stress and escape from the pressures of the world. Nearby, under the willow tree, there is also a granite bench for sitting and remembering a loved one.

Visitors are welcome!
Bring a pair of clippers or scissors to take home some herbs.
